The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of
Allah be onto him) says- "Hijra will never stop, till Repentance
stops. And repentance will never stop, till the sun appears
from the east".
Before the coming of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings
of Allah be onto him), people were living in darkness (sin).
They were worshipping Idols, trees, and stones. And there were
no divine laws. The strong cheat the weak, the rich enslaves
the poor, etc. Man was hungry for a divine rescue. Then Allah
sent them the light, Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah
be onto him), reading onto them the book of Allah, and rescuing
them from darkness, to light.
The Prophet was anointed with the word IQRA'(READ). Making
him a Prophet. But he was not given the command to expose his
prophecy. So he called secretly (for three years). Then Allah
revealed- "O you Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah
be onto him), enveloped (in garment)- Arise and warn!- And your
Lord (Allah) magnify!- And your garment purify-And Keep away
from Ar-Rujz (the idol)". On receiving these verses, the
Prophet exposed his call, irrespective of the hardships involved,
and for the next ten years, he called to the worshipping of
one God. With the support of his wife (Khadija) who encouraged
him and also supported him financially. Then His uncle (Abi
Talib) defended him from any harm that might come to the Prophet
from the non-believers. But Allah's will, both the uncle and
the wife died in the same year, within a short period of interval.
After the death of the two pillars supporting the Prophet (his
wife and his uncle), the disbelievers increased their evil plans
towards the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be onto him).
So He left Makka for Thaa-if (a town about 60km away) with the
intention of gaining support and protection, but all to no avail.
He was sent out of Thaa-if. While on his way back to Makka,
with his then adopted son (Zaid Ibn. Haaristha), The prophet
looked up and supplicated his Lord Allah, submitting all of
his hope to the creator. He then realized that the clouds gathered
above him, so He raised his head and saw the Angel Jibreel (Angel
Gabriel) who said- "O Muhammad! Allah has heard your call
and has sent you the Angel of the mountains to obey you. The
Angel of mountains said- O Messenger of Allah! I f you want,
I will destroy them (people of Makka) by bringing these two
mountains together. But the prophet refused and insisted that
they should be spared, and may be one day Allah will make the
good out of their off springs".
The Prophet then entered Makka under the protection of a man
known as (Al-Mut im ibn. Uday) and his children, but he was
still under threat, and by the Will of Allah, the Prophet met
six young men from Madina, who were in Makka for pilgrimage.
He used that advantage and introduced Islam to them. They were
very impressed by the Prophet's approach, so on their return
to Madina they also spread the news to people. This attracted
the elders in Madina who vowed to give the Prophet protection
and accept his religion. And finally they permitted the Prophet
to migrate to Madina, which The All mighty Allah (SWT) confirmed.
The next problem was, how will the Prophet Muhammad (peace
and blessings of Allah be onto him) leave Makka. Because the
enemies will only like to see that the Prophet is destroyed.
The prophet had earlier on ordered some of his companions to
migrate to Madina. He could not migrate, because he had to wait
for the commands of his Lord. Allah says in the Holy Qur'an
"And (remember) when the disbelievers plotted against you
(O Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be onto him) to imprison
you, or to kill you, or to get you out (from your home i.e.
Makka): they were plotting and Allah too is planning, and Allah
is the best of planners." Sura 8 verse30.
With the above verse, the Prophet was relieved. Then Allah
sent the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel), instructing the Prophet to
migrate to Madina with his friend Abubakar (Radiya Llahu anhu).
The disbelievers had earlier planned an assassination of the
Prophet, so they surrounded his house (forty strong men with
swords), the night before his departure. Then at dawn, Allah
revealed the following verses assuring the Prophet of protection-
"Yaa, siin.- By the Qur`an, full of wisdom (i.e. full of
laws. evidences, and proofs)- Truly, you (O Muhammad) are one
of the messengers,- on a straight path (i.e. Allah`s religion)-
(This is) a revelation sent down by the All-Mighty, the most
merciful,-In order that you will warn a people whose forefathers
were not warned, so they heedless.-Indeed the word (of punishment)
has proved true against most of them, so they will not believe-
Verily! We have put on their necks iron collars reaching to
chins, so that their heads are forced up- And We have put a
barrier before them, and a barrier behind them, and We have
covered them up, so that they cannot see." Sura 36 verse
1-6.
When these verses were revealed, the Prophet Muhammad (peace
and blessings of
Allah be onto him) then left his house while passing between
them. But they never saw him. And He set up for Madina with
Abubakar (R.A). Even though the journey was very risky, by the
will of Allah, they arrived in Madina, where they were welcomed
by their hosts.
For the next ten years, the Prophet lived in Madina, where he
established Islam as a nation until Allah completed His mercy
onto mankind. He lived in this world for sixty three years.
forty years before prophecy, and twenty three years as a prophet
and a messenger. He began by calling people to the worshipping
of Allah as one (in Makka), for thirteen years, then when attempts
were made on his life to assassinate him, Allah commanded him
to migrate to Madina, where he was accepted by the people. So
migration in Islam is to escape from evil to the mercy of Allah,
which was the reason why the Prophet migrated. After building
the Islamic state, the Prophet had to return one more time to
Makka (which is the head quarters of Islam). He left Makka under
the shade of fear, and returned under the light of victory.
Saying (Allahu Akbar) Allah is Great. The first thing they did
on entering Madina, was to destroy the idols which were placed
in the Ka'aba by the nonbelievers. The Prophet saying (pointing
to the Ka'aba) This house was given to my father (Ibrahim),
so that Allah will be worshipped as one with no associate ("Verily!
The truth has come, and falsehood is diminished").
During the Prophet's farewell pilgrimage (which was the only
pilgrimage He performed), Allah revealed the following- "This
day, those who disbelieved have given up all hope of your religion,
so fear them not, fear Me. This day, I have perfected your religion
for you, completed My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you
Islam as your religion". Sura 5 Verse 3.
The above verse signifies that Allah has finalized his mercy
onto the whole of mankind. And there will be no excuse for anyone
who hear about the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of
Allah be onto him) and refuse him. And the one who refuses to
recognize the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah
be onto him), will have no mercy from his Lord.
